About

Brissa Yunuem A Torres

Brissa is a Mexican-American Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Artist, Communicator, Social Activist, and Health Educator. She works as a psychotherapist, offering integrative therapy that includes clinical hypnotherapy, expressive arts therapy, and forensic services such as mental health evaluations for immigration processes. Her focus is on assisting individuals and families in overcoming the stigma of mental illness and achieving overall fulfillment in their daily lives.

Brissa volunteered to support UNLV’s active shooting survivors, leading a free-of-charge Bilingual Emotional Support Group from December 2023 to May 2024. In this role, she provided critical incident stress debriefing, emotional processing, behavior management, trauma-informed expressive arts therapy, suicide prevention awareness, and mindfulness training.

In addition to her clinical work, Brissa collaborates with various levels of government and nonprofit organizations. She assists in planning and designing special events, projects, and workshops focused on Mental Health Awareness, Individual & Family Development, Empowerment, Emotional Intelligence, Youth Mentorship Programs, and Parenting Skills Training.

Brissa serves as the Executive Director of Promotor@s Las Vegas (PLV), a local 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to empowering minorities by making health education and preventive health programs accessible to underinsured, underserved communities since 2022. In April 2024, Brissa was appointed as a Board Member for Women of Diversity Productions Inc (WOD), a Nevadan nonprofit that highlights women’s achievements and contributions to society, aiming to create a future that values women. She also volunteers as an Advisory Board member for The Sandy Peltyn Foundation, a nonprofit providing scholarships for minorities in healthcare schools.

Brissa is actively involved in the “Mentes Brillantes Project,” an initiative dedicated to providing psychoeducation and resources in Spanish to parents of children with learning disabilities. Additionally, she participates every Monday in “Despierta Al Dia with Univision,” a local Spanish News TV Show, where she serves as a communicator in their Mental Health Awareness segment.
